HI, advice please....My 2 year old HATES getting his teeth brushed (am sure there are many in the same boat!!)Chewing on his brush is just not cutting the mustard so have resorted to brushing them myself which ends up with screaming child.Bottom teeth and gums fine but when i brush up top his gum behind big teeth bleeds. Using a very soft brush and hardly touching the gum at all! This must be sore which is prob why he hates it so much, so brushing is stopped when i see this happen............thoughts please..

am no expert but bleeding gums usually signifies gingivitis. This means that the bacteria are causing problems in his gums and need to be cleaned off properly but how you achieve that in a 2yo I do not know.

You need to ask your dentist what to do - maybe there is a baby mouth wash (although my DS, who is not quite 2, would swallow it, not spit it out) - or you could change to the much-recommended electric toothbrush. If I get it myself, I know I need to floss (was a very late comer to flossing ) but again, not sure how appropriate that is to 2yo.

Ask dentist.
