ds (5) has got a strange swelling on his leg. We first noticed it on holiday in august - we'd done loads of walking and one day he was walking down hill and complained of pain just above his knee. when we looked at it there was a realy strange deep bruise above his knee. It stayed the same for the rest of the holiday but he said it wasnt sore again. I took him to the doctor the week after we got back but he said we should just wait and see what happens to it.

so its now 2 months later and its still there and a bit bigger. its like a bruise thats really deep - not on the skin surface. but he never complains of any pain in it. I think i should take him back but wonder if we'll just be sent away again cause he's no pain. surely its not right to have this swelling?

yes I would be taking him back if he's mine as it can't be a superficial injury if it first appeared 2 months ago.

Yes, I would take him back without question.

just wondered if it was something like a lipoma (although i'm not sure what that is!!) and they would say because it wasnt painful i should just ignore it.

the other half of me worries its something serious and i want them to properly investigate it.

will be on the phone first thing on monday morning!

Well, that's it really, isn't it. It is almost certainly nothing but part of you is worrying, so let them look again and tell you it is nothing. You've waited 2 months so not unreasonable to get them to take another look.

I would take him back to the GP. If it has been there for 2 months then you need to know hwat is causing it.
