following on from the thread I started at the weekend, I've noticed my 2 yr old DD has swollen 'bits' at the base of her tongue

Tried googling for images and it seems that the tongue anatomy does have bigger lumps and bumps nearer the throat.

My DD stuck her tongue out and there were about 6 very obvious bumps near the back of her tongue.

I've tried poking my tongue out as far as it'll go and I can't see any!

Is this normal for a two yr old.

Have these just appeared? Do they look like blisters?
It could be hand, foot and mouth....DD had it earlier in the year and it was so horrid she couldn't eat for over a week.
If DD is still eating and appears healthy I wouldn't worry too much - maybe mention it to the doc if its stressing you out.

I'm not sure whether they've just appeared. I've never noticed them before. She managed to get a hair in her mouth whilst sitting in the supermarket trolley, she then stuck her tongue out and tipped her head back for me to fish it out for her!

She has been a bit out of sorts and over the weekend we noticed an odd spotty rash on her front and back. We've done the glass test, and that's fine.

Maybe I'll give the doctors a ring. BUT there's no way she's going to open her mouth for the doctor!!!!!!!!!

Has she got spots on her hands, her bottom or soles of feet?
DD refused to open her mouth for doc, but with one look at a few spots on her feet and bottom she was diagnosed with Hand, Foot and Mouth.
