Can't cope - teething

Hi

I can't believe this is normal. My DD suffers from teething pain so badly that she cannot sleep and is totally miserable for 3-4 days at a time. When I say can't sleep, I mean even with 4 hourly calpol and neurofen at max doses for her age. She can be driven to sleep in the car, but it takes ages for her to drop off and then only lasts 40 mins or so. All the time she is awake she is screaming, writhing and not distacted by TV, toys, cuddles etc.

I can't bear it. She is obviously in so much pain.

What else can we try? It doesn't help that she always seems to have other random symptoms too - this time bad ulcers and a rash on her bottom, legs and arms. But only a mild temp of 37.5

The rash doesn't sound like teething, has she been checked out for this?

Why do you think it is teething?
Do you know there is no reliable evidence that tooth eruption causes pain/distress?
Have you been to the doc?

So worrying when babies are ill and can't tell you what is wrong.

I almost never took my dcs to the doc, but with symptoms you describe I WOULD.

good luck

I agree, it doesn't sound normal. Take her to the gp and push for it to be looked into properly.

Hope she's feeling better soon.

Thanks everyone. Feel a bit calmer about life again this morning!

I did take her to be checked by the GP last time, and she said she was fine. But if the mouth ulcers and rash are still there on Mon I think I will take her in again. I normally ignore most rahes as they seem to be generally viral and both my DC have fairly translucent skin.
