Side effects of single mumps jab?

Hi. Just posted in vaccinations thread but no-one around there so giving this one a go. DD (2.5) is having her single mumps jab tomorrow. Anybody's DCs get any side effects from this? Just wanted to prepare myself so I can be ready to administer calpol as well as cuddles. Thanks.

Really? Where on earth did you find a single mumps jab? I thought nowhere in the country has them!

My DS had the first mumps one in 2007, I don't remember anything happening to him afterwards. I think I gave calpol after the jab just in case.

Thanks, Crokky. I paid for it in advance a year ago when DD had her measles jab so the clinic reserved it for me.

DS had MMR, but I think the Dr said it was the mumps part that might cause this. 3 weeks later, he was unbelievably tired for about 2-3 days. So tired that he slept in the car, slept on the floor, slept on the sofa etc.

Three weeks?! Wow. OK, I'll be on the lookout for that.

Did the clinic not explain possible side effects to you?

You've obviously researched vaccinations as you've decided to go the singles route and not MMR. There must be some information out there about mumps vaccinations - after all it's all made by the same company (Merck???) - have you tried their website?

Thanks, CTJ. Clinic and internet can tell me the various side effects that might possibly occur but I was just after a more personal opinion of which of these, if any, MNetters' DCs actually experienced.
