arghh - barking cough in DS3 (2yrs)

He's had a cough for a couple of days (quite a horrible one - barking) - but has otherwise been well in himself. DS1 and I have both had a viral thing so I've just assumed it was that. Especiall as last year around this time of year I posted an almost identical thread and took him off to the GP's to be told he was fine.

However, it's not getting any better, and he's not himself this morning (asked for his milk when he got up but hasn't drunk it),

Doesn't seem to be any worse at night though (like with croup?).

It's Saturday morning - I'm going to have to ring the out of hour aren't I?Don't think I can leave it until Monday morning.

no he doesn't get them a lot - thankfully (DS1 more than makes up for DS2 and 3's very infrequent illnesses).

I avoided ringing them as once he'd woken up properly he seemed to be ok.

However, he's now asleep having had nothing to eat or drink (well a couple of biscuits and a handful of bran flakes) and being rather grizzzly.

I think he was a bit hot as well (depiste having 3 chidlren I still haven't managed to buy us a thermometer ) so gave him some calpol a little while ago.

Other than not really eating/drink and the actual cough he seems fine. He doesn't seem to be having trouble breathing and he's not rasping.

Just called NHS and they weren't really very helpful, "oh well if his actual breathing is ok then he'll be ok just try and keep encouraging the fluids down him".

But I'm not convinced. Oh god I'm going to have to go to out of hours I think which is going to be an absolute nightmare (2 buses about an hour to get there and estimate about £112-14 as well - well it's £6 return on the bus to the same town)
