How do I find a Paediatric Urologist?

DD (6) has recurring UTIs. It has been going on for about a year. Have been to GP, referred to paeditricain, discharged back to GP and now on long term antibiotic (nitrofurantoin). But, she wets herself all the time and I'm thinking a general paeditrician is perhaps not most appropriate specialist. So I want to go back to the GP and ask for a referral to a paediatric urologist. I have looked on drfoster.co.uk and didn't come up with much.

I want this doctor to be female, which is probably limiting my choices a bit. But, DD will not want to drop her pants for a man (understandably). And I want this doctor to specialise in paeditric urology not just urology -- prefer a specialty in UTIs.

Am I asking too much? (I don't really care if I am to be honest. This has gone on for a year and it's time DD get's some results)

Sorry, I waffled and didn't address your question. I might CAT you if I need the name. I'll keep it in mind, if that's okay.

Hi Strix, I've been unimpressed with Kingston recently. I had a regular ENT appointment there where they had no instruments because they don't normally do an ENT surgery on the day I went and they could not locate one bendy light thing in the entire hospital! Does make you wonder!

I don't know if you saw in the local press but their A&E and maternity unit may be under threat. Not sure how serious the threat is but I know there have been rumours of St George's becoming the 'main' A&E and Kingston being downgraded (seems madness to me).

Glad the medicine seems to be working for dd.

Sorry, I don't know what ENT is.

They lost one of the scans of DD. Just a normal jelly scan of her bladder and kidneys. I went back for the next appointment and they kept asking me where the scan was done because they didn't have record of it. I said "here". They said, "Are you sure". i said, "I was there."

Do you remember the sad story of Bubble99's twin? That was Kingston too.
