help quick! I dont know if DS should go to preschool - ok in himself but bad chesty cough

DS started dry coughing a couple of days ago, now he is coughing a lot and it sounds wetter and chestier. It's very frequent. He does not have a temp and seems fine otherwise. He wants to go to school. He is coughing a lot though every few mins or 10 mins or so. I'm worried it will harm him but of course also that he may pass something on. But he seems so perky and normal other than the cough it also seems a shame to keep him at home. What should I do? I'm new at this

meant to add I've been giving him cough syrup he is obviously still coughing. Nose seems stuffy now too.

I got a hold of a nurse at gp and am going to keep him at home - thanks for nothing MN I officially resent having to cope without you!

thanks you bad bad kitten. I do too. As the day has gone on he's got much worse, he's all snotty and coughing loads and generally miserable. When I phoned preschool to tell them she said 3 other children (today!) are off with the exact same thing!

I have dd off with v. high temp, cough, headache. Phoned up school this afternoon to cancel going in to help tomorrow and apparently there are gazillions of kids with it.

Hope he feels loads better soon. good luck for a reasonable nights sleep.
