Suspected UTI 8 month old DD - should she have kidney scan?

My 8MO DD has a suspected UTI that is being treated with Trimethoprim since saturday. Both urine samples were inconclusive as they contained skin cells. She is much better today and her temperature is back to normal (phew!).

Because the UTI was not confirmed, she's not been referred to have a scan to make sure her kidneys are ok. Should I be pushing for one?. She was very poorly for about 4 days before starting the trimethoprim and it took another 4 days before we saw any improvement. Don't want to worry unnecessarily but I know UTI's can be serious.

THANKS!

I don't know if they are routinely done in UK unless there are repeated episodes. dd had one done at 4 months following a nasty uti and it was quite invasive. They are checking for reflux of urine from the bladder. However we were in Switzerland at the time where testing for all sorts is a matter of course.

I think the scans are routine under a certain age if the tests confirm a UTI. Not sure whether to leave it or push for a scan?
