face paints for sensitive skin?

Hi, I am hoping someone can help with experience of face painting.

My dd (aged just 3) loves having her face painted with my make up, so I bought some face paints. We used them once and two days later she came out in a patch of red spots on her face. I do not know for certain if they are linked to the face paints, but she has not had anything like that before.

The trouble is, she loves the face paints and can't wait to do it again.

Does anyone know if there is such a thing as special face paints for sensitive skins? I thought of maybe putting a barrier cream such as Atrixo on her face before the paints, but would that stop them 'taking' and make them rub off?

I put moisturiser on dds face (e45) at least 15 mins before she will have her face painted (if going to a party etc) , and at home use snazaroo paints. She doesnt need the moisturiser with them, but it does help to get it off easier - esp the black.

Are snazaroo paints less likely to bring her out in spots? Will try e45 carefully and see what happens. Thanks!

My daughter also reacts to face paints including Snazaroo and all of the ones labelled hypo allergenic.

For her school Christmas play the lead characters were having their faces painted. I used a brand of stage make-up called Grimas on her. I pur a barrier cream on first but this just made everything slide and shiny. However she was fine and she has since used Grimas make-up without that to no ill effects.

Grimas also make face paints and we have tested these on dd and she has been fine on her but they are not cheap. She also reacts to some brands of cheap children's make-up too.

Will research grimas too. Thanks. Not sure whether to try snazaroo and risk spending money and getting more spots, or go straight to expensive stuff. ((Ponders))
