What is wrong with her?

dd has been grizzly and yelling for a week. Temp up and down. Nothing obvious.
Taking her to the doctors AGAIN but reckon tehy will once again say they don't know. This is happening every few weeks and the yelling and screaming is doing my head in. Knowing something is up but not what.

I'm no help but can bump this for you

Constipation? Reflux? No help either.

GP is suggesting thrush because her tongue is a bit coated and her upper palate looks white. Thing is, its been like that for years and of all the hundreds of doctors that have looked into her mouth, no-one has ever said anything.

Oh, oral thrush is very painful! Particularly common if oral fluids are slightly limited, and lots of dairy is ideal breeding ground. Clever GP! Has s/he given you nystatin drops? Fresh pineapple is also good.

Tonsils? Ear infection?

This sounds like a classic reaction to glutamates and ribonucleotides. Check your food labels and be sure to avoid anything with E635, 627, 631 (ribonucleaotide) or 621 (MSG). You can look at Sue Dengate's factsheets for more info:

Sorry, just to qualify - you didn't say dd had a rash but the reaction can involve thrush too... forgot to mention

Diana - she doesn't eat anything with E numbers in. dd is in the ketogenic diet so eats nothing but low carb veg (and very little of it) almonds and double cream and butter. Nothing else.
Have to go check if nystatin or daktarin is carb free. GP gave is a script for both just in case.

Didn't mean to make assumptions... I'm rather embarrassed re-reading my post as it's pretty arrogant. I hope your doc can help her soon, it sounds very distressing, and the fact that she's suffering a fever would make a food reation unlikely anyway.

s'ok. I didn't mention her keto diet. Trying to get through to her paediatrician now.
