Rash/spots on legs - chicken pox?

Chicken pox spots normally start on the torso don't they?

DS fell and badly grazed his knees last Friday, then went down with a vomiting virus on Friday night. He has been off colour since (prescribed Tamiflu as had bit of a temp too) and now suddenly has pinky red spots on legs around knees.

Does anyone have any idea?

If you google "chicken pox" under Google images they are pretty distinguishable. DD just had chicken pox and I think the first spot was on her side, but the second was on her leg.

Are they like blisters/water filled?
Ds2 had chicken pox 5 weeks ago and his started on the back of his neck.Dh had it 2 weeks ago and his started on his head.
Ds1 has had it since Tuesday,and it started on his hand.
I think I remember reading that the most common place for them to start is the back of the neck,but that's not always the case.Ds1's also didn't start as a blister-it just looked like a normal spot,but within 24 hours had turned into a blister.

They started on head with us, and moved downwards. Less on legs than anywhere else on body.

How old is your DS by the way?

My DD's spots developed in exactly the same way as Bubbaloo's DS's - normal red spot, 24 hours later had turned into a blister. You'll know pretty quickly if it's chicken pox I should think!

My 3 had hardly any on their arms or legs either-main affected areas were their backs,chests,head,and groin area.

He is 2. There are lots all around his grazed knees and none anywhere else. Spoken to Dr who thinks it is viral reaction. Thanks all.

My DCs chicken pox started in a graze and in a cut on the head. I assumed it was due to oportunistic infection IYSWIM. I thought that if they had not had those cuts/grazes the first pox wouldve landed somewhere more usual.

But I am making it all up and have no scientific basis for these beliefs

Just what we flipping need - some summer holiday this is turning out to be! Just come home early from our one holiday a year due to two out of three vomiting, now possible chicken flamin' pox!!

My DD is 13 months and actually she was pretty well when she had chicken pox, no temperature, still eating like a horse, couple of nights where she woke up after having previously been sleeping through, but generally you wouldn't have known she was ill if it wasn't for the gross spots! She didn't even scratch them that much.

Apparently it is often quite mild in under 3s. So even if it is chicken pox, it needn't ruin your holidays. The worse thing was keeping her away from other children while she had it and 5 days after the last spot had gone crusty (but I still took her out and about, didn't stay locked in the house).

Having said all that, hope it isn't the pox!

Awww BS sounds like you are having a summer hol like my mate. Her DD1 got swine flu the first week, middle of 2nd week DD2 got CP and now they are waiting to see if DD1 gets CP!

I hope your DCs are all well very soon.

Chegirl - poor girl! All seem to be a bit better today in our house. I think the spots may have been a reaction to either his virus or the Tamiflu. Thanks tho'.
