Humour me please

Just had to pick up my 4 year old from playschool. They said he was trying to sleep, saying he was cold so they put his jumper on, then he was feeling very hot.

When I put him in the car he was breathing funny, like he was shivering but the rest of his body wasn't.

Temp once home was approx 37.4 so have given him a dose of Calpol and put him to bed.

Apparently swine flu is in the area. I am not panicking but are not really aware of the symptoms and would appreciate any advise please.

swine flu no worse than others if you ask me but lots of nhs advice online

calpol, nurofen, fluids, rest and keep an eye

I think symptoms are fever, cough, sore throat, achiness, headache - normal flu stuff.
Sounds like your DS might be getting something but his temp is not too high so fingers crossed he's fighting it.

I know I am worrying too much but after that poor girl died age 6, it is a worry, especially as SF is in the area.

DD1 22mo fever 40 plus shivers no sleep, no food no drink. Hosp said wait 72 hours if fever still bad see GP. Saw Gp said is respiratory tract inf. not s flu as s flu gets bad and not better without medication. Do calpol every 6 hours and alternate w Calprofen so you're givin g every 3. I bought her horrible juice drinks I know she likes just to get her to drink something. She's on the mend now.

He has just got up and by brilliant timing the postman has just brought him a belated birthday present. He seems happy with it.

Still very hot but I will feed and water him soon.

Don't you just love the new lunch time postal service! Glad things looking up. Having read separate s flu thread I think dd1 may indeed have had it and will be searching out help sooner if dd2 10 mo (excema/allergies) catches it!

He has eaten a bit but will be going back to bed soon.

Temp is still 37.4.

I would have expected the Calpol to have brought it down a bit by now. He feels a lot hotter than that too.

I picked my DD up from playschool on Monday with similar a thing, by the next day her temperature was through the roof. I phoned my gp and they prescribed tamiflu as it "could" be swineflu.

She has got a lot worse since and is ticking all the swine flu boxes, bar the cough, so I am glad I got the meds.

It may or may not be swine flu, as they are no longer swabbing you never know for sure.

If you are concerned.call your gp and ask for a Doctor to call you back. I tried NHS direct first but you just cannot get through.

I have just put him back to bed, his rabbit woke him up and hopefully he will be fine. His brother had tonsillitis last week but all DS2 is saying is his cheek hurts where it went red.

He went in the buggy this aft, has eaten a bit of pancake and one bite of choc flapjack and has gone to bed.

So not like him.

Trying not to be ott as dh is it-will-be-what ds1-had-last-week.

Seema to depend on where you live as to whether they prescribe tamiflu as a preventative measure.. Yes definitely better to go through GP don't bother calling NHS direct. Have you tried Calprofen? DD was not improving with Calpol but calprofen seemed to bring temp down

Temp has been up and down but not too high this afternoon. He asked me to put him to bed at 5.15pm and had 1 1/4 hours sleep. Came down for a charlie and lola and some calpol and has gone back to bed.

I so hope he is better tomorrow as he wants to spend some money he has got.
