How to get rid of glue ear

I was wondering if anyone had any stories or advice on getting rid of glue ear? My dd has had it since birth, now 14 months old, on and off and is due to be referred to an ENT specialist. It is only mild - she can hear speech apparently - but i would like to see it on its way if poss! i have heard mention of cranial osteopathy and homeopathy but would be interested in hearing any experiences and perhaps recommendations of practitioners? we are in Bow. x

I always thought it was a case of having to wait until they mature a bit more.

Eustachian tubes in children are almost horizontal - hence they don't drain as well and fluid can build up.

As they get older, the tubes become more vertical and so drain better.

There are a few things you can do the relieve it. Firstly, dairy products really do clog up the tubes, so remove all dairy. In its place, give her loads of fruit, it has calcium in it, so there is nothing to worry about removing dairy. Also, wheat tends to clog things up, so ease up on bread, biscuits, cakes etc.

I think having extra help from using something like a cranial osteopath might be very useful. I would suggest ringing up a local natural health centre and asking their advice. They will advise you on one or two different approaches. Then you can decide what you would prefer.
