any connection between glue ear and tonsillitis?

DS (3.1)is currently having a third, possibly fourth, bout of tonsillitis since September.

I've also wondered at times if there is any issue with his hearing/ glue ear. There's clearly no gross problem (he can hear you shouting from the other side of the house) and he passed newborn hearing test fine - but his speech was slow to come and while it's fluent now, the articulation can be pretty bizarre and he seems slower to grasp things you have to process aurally ie he has recognised numbers since 20 months, can count quantities to 5 fairly reliably, but still can't recite 1-2-3-4-5-6 in the right order.

Should I ask someone to check his ears out? Is there any connection? He has only had one ear infection so far.

Not a medical person (disclaimer) - but what i can tell you is that I had recurrent tonsillitis as a child and I also had glue ear and had grommets fitted when I was about 2. I also still suffer occasional bouts of sinusitis, but I don't remember ever having an ear infection.

I don't know if they are directly linked, but I think a lot of Ear Nose & Throat conditions can coincide if you are susceptible.

I would speak to your GP as it doesn't sound like you are jumping to wild conclusions.
