Is Chicken Pox always itchy?

Have noticed about 10 or so spots on ds chest and underarms and also a large spot on his back which looks like its got pus in it.(sorry, tmi)
However he is not scratching them or being bothered by them so obv it may not be cp but are they always itchy?

My DS's didn't become itchy until they started to heal. Look for the blistering - that was the giveaway when mine started with very few spots. By the next day there was no doubt at all

dd wasn't bothered by them really but you coudl simply be in ealry days and it may get worse before it gets better. ds didn't scratch his partly because we didn't suggest they were itchy !

DS1 only found the ones on his bottom itchy - I don't remember him itching the other ones that were over the rest of his face/body.

Fwiw, it took us a couple of days to convince us it was chicken pox (partly due to the not itching, the spots didn't spread that fast in the first couple of days and denial )

DS had Chicken pox last october and was literally covered in spots but didn't itch at all-was already stocked up with calomine cream,piriton etc but didn't need it.

I actually took him to see GP cause one of the spots turned really nasty and mentioned to him that he hadn't been itching at all and I wondered why...GP informed me that there is apparently a "non itchy" strain of chicken pox which was doing the rounds so it must have been that which he got!

DS managed to pass it on to the rest of his nusery (he was 3.5 at the time) and all the children who got it didn't itch either!! Was very strange cause you obviously expect it to be very itchy and uncomfortable but apart from the fact that he was covered in spots/blisters and felt a bit unwell he was absolutely fine!

I'm not sure if my (almost 3 yr old) DS3 has cp or not, as atm he only has a grand total of 6 spots in random places. Fri and Sat he was complaining of sore throat and mouth, and sat his glands were up in neck, and he was clingy and sleepy (slept for 2 hours, but doesnt normally nap).

First couple of spots appeared Sun, and has taken until today to progress to 6! They are not itchy, and only one of them looks remotely like it has a blister appearance. Oh yes, and Sunday he perked up again, and by today he is back to usual lively self...

CP is rife around here atm, so it wouldnt surprise me, but it is not like when others had it as they had plenty more spots, and did itch lots!

I'm bumping this most helpful thread as DS has gone down with very similar symptoms. No itching but it's definitely chickenpox. If you are in Oxford and your child is spotty, you may safely blame me! :)

DS has couple of spots that look like CP but they are not itchy.
He has no fever and no other symptoms.
GP said it is a viral infection but not chicken pox (although at first she thought it was chicken pox and called another doctor for second opinion who confirmed that it wasn't ). I'm not convinced though.
Anyone else also with similar experience? And how long did it take for the rash to dissappear?

My twins have just had chicken pox (dtd caught it from dts 12 days later). Ds didn't itch at all but the itching drove dd crazy!

Oh really! He might have chicken pox then, perhaps non-itchy one. I hope the rash will go away soon.
