Baby shampoo burning eyes!!!

I am just wondering if anyone else is having the same problems as me and my DS. For about 3 months now every so often the skin under his eyes gets really inflammed and then crusty and then heals over. Today its red and looks weepy!! I finally realised on Tuesday that its caused by his shampoo getting in his eyes, and only the slightest bit seems to cause a problem. This might sound a while for the penny to drop, but at about the same time he began with eczema and so we assumed it was something to do with that, we were back and forth to the docs to get the eczema under control and we never picked up on the hair washing and shampoo. We have been using a mild shampoo from boots suitable for eczema skin, and i use only the minimal amount. I can deal with this and make sure we are more careful at bath times etc, and really keep the hair washing to the bare minimum (when there is bean juice and yoghurt in it!) I just wonder if anyone else experiences this and are there any better shampoos to recommend???

My toddler had a slight amount of eczema as a baby on the insides of his elbows. We did not experience your problem with shampoos. I have always used Burt's Bees Baby Shampoo and Wash. It is very mild and has a no tears formula.

You can get oilatum shampoo I think. The health shops also make shampoo with aloe vera which should be better. If you get him to lie down in the bath and float, you can wash his hair without any water going into his eyes, you just have to be careful with where you are rinsing his hair.

Oilatum stuff made my DSs eczema worse- apparently it can do that sometimes. We use Little Me Baby Organics which doesn't upset his eczema.
