can chicken pox come really quickly?

I am having the week from hell and i think it just got worse.
last night dd had a spot under her armpit, i thought her dress had rubbed a bit. This morning the spot looked a bit scabby and there was another small spot, i thought maybe some suncream got in it.
just put her in the bath and she has about 10 spots all under her armpit but they are not raised like water blisters, they are like they have already popped.
can chicken pox spots appear, blister and pop in a day or is it something else?

Hi my dd 13 months got one under her armpit on fri and by sat was looking pretty bad - she is now covered and looks horrendous, they seem to be appearing and bursting/weeping pretty fast, shes our first child so ive no experience, its truly awful on top of this she had her mmr last wed and i think the effects are setting in and she has exzema!!! U hav my sympathy :-)

thanks for reply, i thought the first signs were water blisters though so im a bit concerned its something else.
|They look like round circles where a blister may have been but gone and now just red circles. does that sound right?

oh and ive seen a pregnant friend twice this week so should i phone the childrens centre and tell them its possibly chicken pox?

Hers are bright red with little craters where they have burst, some are crusty, the new ones that havnt come to a head start pale pink then look more angry! Maybe someone with more kids and experience on here will reply soon.

doesn't sound like chicken pox from my experiences of it tbh.

it does appear very quickly, but it wouldn't be gone that soon

Yes, that is just how my dd's chicken pox appeared. She only ever had about 20, and I watched them literally appear before my eyes in the bath. Fwiw, we knew it was chicken pox as her whole room at nursery went down with it, so it was a relief when the spots appeared tbh. For the two days before they appeared she was incredibly ill and we didn't know what was the matter, but as soon as the spots appeared she felt much better

I would be surprised that you haven't actually seen any with blisters. The blisters lasted about 24hrs with my DD.

Both mine have Chicken pox at the min and the spots vary from small red lumps to massive blisters, some are scabbing some arent. My youngests spots are appearing in front of my eyes, really quick but my eldests took over 5 days to come out, if you unsure see your gp and i would let people know just incase.

she hasnt been unwell at all. she is lively as ever, she is 22 months. she has got 4 teeth coming through so has been a bit cranky/tantrummy but put it down to her teeth. she hasnt got a temperature.
really should i see a doctor, i thought they would tell me to stay away.

If you're not sure it's chicken pox then yeah probably go to the dr.
When there was CP going around when dd at nursery I was told my the not to bother taking her in if she got them but it is a nitifiable disease. ie it needed to go on her medical record for things like checking immunity etc when she was older it was easy to see at a glance she had them so just to let the surgery know at some point that she had them.

Maybe the new spots just have not blistered yet.

With my 2 the spots appeared over a few days, blistered within a few hours of appearing and then crusted.

If it is chicken pox, most will blister and crust over.

If not cp, could it be heat rash?

Yes, I watched DS3's torso become covered during the course of one bathtime. It does sound like the pox, but a pharmacist would be able to tell you for sure - don't have to see the doctor.

hi all, took dd into docs first thing as more spots had appeared and her face was all red and her eye had swollen up overnight, she has chicken pox and spots all round her eyes are forming. she is fone in herself, hasnt stopped eating and is now sleeping, ive put a bit of calamine lotion on the spots although they do not seem to be bothering her yet.
