DD is 4 and in dec started the preschool booster programme of vaccinations.

She had measles, Rubella but the private clinic ran out of mumps vaccinations....

I have chased them several times and been told that they are awaiting supplies...
I call yesterday and was told they won't get supplies till 2010 .

Obviously they have reasurred me dd isn't at risk as she may already have some immunity and its more dangerous for teenage boys (or puberty)...

Anyone else in similar situation to us.? Any advice..?

Ds is 2 so a year or so off these boosters but advice is appreciated.

I have asked if we can go abroard to get them but she advised me the supplier/manufacturer have ceased production..so all in same boat......

I think you just need to wait it out.

My clinic said that Merck had a problem with MMR production and had to recall loads of MMR vaccines. Merck are also the producer of single mumps vaccines so in order to meet the shortfall of MMR, they have temporarily ceased production of single mumps. My clinic said this has happened a couple of times in the past 8 years. I have a 3yo and 1yo - my 1yo is waiting for a single mumps as well. I don't think it's a problem, especially for a girl.

Thanks crokky,I knew Merck had withdrawn/stopped production but didn't realise they had problems...

Ok, so I need to hang fire.....

I checked on this a few days ago. They have stopped production on lots of vaccines atm. So, hopefully they will sort out the problem and restart soon.

I am also 2 years off for boosters for ds2 so am just keeping a watch on the situation.
