Ds has tonsillitis, just given ABs
How long should I keep him off playschool - Just til he feels better or longer?

Until he no longer has a fever is the general rule. It takes a couple of days for the ABs to work, IIRC, it's infectious until then.

thankyou, He has had it loads of times before, but he is only just 3 so playschool has never been an issue before.
And I was so tired from being up all night with him, I forgot to ask the GP

Poor thing. I used to get this all the time as a child. It's horrid.

norksinmywaistband · 19/05/2009 15:04

I know he has had it 4 times since January
I wish they had taken his tonsils out at the same time as his adenoids and grommets were done

Wow that's alot Sometimes people need more antibiotics to clear them completely or it comes back again a little while after.

Norksinmywaistband - we had this with DS who is a year older than your DS - he had his tonsils out last month and is like a different child - fight as hard as you can to get them taken out - the op is a far better thing to have to have done than constant anti-biotics which DS became immune to in the end - hence the never ending bouts of it!

norksinmywaistband · 19/05/2009 15:11

I am seeing ENT again in 2 months for his folow up anyway so will speak to them then. The consultant did say at the time of his last op that they would probably have to come out eventually.
and they didn't do it then and are putting DS through uneccesary pain

We had DSs done, Norks, not just because of the antibiotic issues but because he was missing so much preschool and he starts school proper this september, I didn't want him having 2 weeks out of 4 off every month.
