Hi,
If you have had a kid treated at GOSH would you recommend it?
Background: friends of ours have a 4 year old with a growth in her neck - it looks like she may need chemotherapy at the very least. The mother is Taiwanese and is thinking of going back to Taiwan to get the treatment.
She knows that GOSH is a very well-known hospital, but she has found the doctors there quite relaxed (this is probably a cultural thing as doctors in Taiwan are more serious).
Anyway, I just wondered if you've had a kid treated there what you thought of GOSH? Is it as good as it always sounds?
Thanks!

Can't speak highly enough of it.

Based on dd being an out-patient (privately) and a couple of people I know whose dcs have been treated as in-patients (NHS)

My little sister was a patient there for a few years and the place is wonderful. It banned white coats at a time many other hospitals still insisted on them to put their young patients at their ease. I can not speak highly enough of the care my sister got, they did everything they could for her and us as a family.

Good luck to your friend and her DD.

My DD is receiving treatment there at the moment, they are very professional and very kind and warm people. We were on Lion ward last week and nurses were lovely. Do be wary of nurses in pink who aren't fully trained tho, some are lacking a bit in the experience and professionalism of the qualified nurses. that's only a minor quibble because one of them woke my baby in the middle of the night when we both needed a lot of sleep and I felt she could have handled it better...

The doctors are wonderful and totally dedicated to their work. if you go there, bring a notepad everywhere and write down questions as you think of them.

Thanks for all your replies - it's great that you all have such a high regard for GOSH.
Cheers.
