Tummy bug - how long should you keep child off school

HI
DD (almost 5) had bad diarrhea and one episode of vomiting on Saturday. Yesterday she ate some food and only did one watery poo. I'm keeping her off school today as she hasn't had a full day of proper food and she can't wipe her bottom successfully.Aside from this -she's very chirpy.
DH says she should go to school. Who is right?

Thanks

48 hours from last bout of d/v is the rule in the DC's school.

Thanks for your replies, I feel vindicated.
The 48 hour rule makes total sense to me. Interestingly I'd looked in the school handbook (for Reception kid) and there was no mention of a 48 hour rule.
Good news DD is now back to full working order after a very happy day of watching CBeebies.
