Think ds just has a viral rash. Do we need to be seen?

Hes nearly two, had same virus as ds1 had last week...couple of days of high temps and a bit snuffly.

He's much better but since yesterday has been quite spotty and it seems darker today. It's like your usual viral rash, fades under pressure, bit random, but it's very clear on his face this morning, while I thought it'd be going away by now.

Do we need to see the GP? I don't think it's measles or anything because he had that over a year ago (probably), but he hasn't had an MMR yet so could it be Rubella?

I'm guessing there's nothing they can do anyway. Just dont want to be neglectful parent.

If he no longer has a temperature, and seems happy in himself, I probably wouldn't bother with the doctor.

It's that fine line between thinking yourself neglectful and being over precious that's difficult

Little W is fine mostly, trouble with teething and his itchy allergic rash - I still haven't worked out what's causing!

Fabby no I haven't, but it's the usual sort, a bit bumpy and not merged. More individual little spots, but not proper enough to be chick pox. (I was hoping he'd get that as he was exposed accidentally a few weeks ago! Never mind)

These rashes do make us worry! They are such a common symptom but the cause isn't alwyas clear.

Have you googled to get a picture?

I have to go out now but I do have pictures of rashes in my book if you want me to check.

Belgo - I expect you have ruled out eczema and so on? Ah just realised perhaps Fab was offering to look it up for you, not me.

I'm just wondering, do you think we can go into town? I wouldn't want to give anyone anything. I mean if it were rubella would that be infectious at this stage?

...although if it were rubella I am guessing ds1 wouldn't have had it, as he's up to date with his trillion MMR boosters. Ds1 had faint rash briefly but only for a few hours.

My DD has a rash like this too. Thought it was the beginning of chicken pox but it's not. She's had a virus the past couple of days, she's not in any pain with it so I'm not taking her to the doctors yet.

Flight - baby w does have eczema, and various rashes, and he's been seen by doctors. At the moment it's not too bad but it does bother him (and me!) with itchiness!

Oh... My sister had awful eczema, and found aqueous cream was the best thing...that and goats milk rather than cows. I'm sure you know all these ideas, I'm a bit out of date!

Fabby, are you still about? I'd really appreciate your thoughts on ds if you have a moment. He's Ok still, but the rash isn't going and he looks a bit alarming.

I will have to make him wear a big hat if we go out

Yes, someone else has mentioned slapped cheek...perhaps that's what it is. I always imagined it would be more of a scald-looking effect, though iyswim?

IIf it is, I ought not to take him out really in case we meet anyone pregnant.
