hospital treatment for ezcema

my son went to see his dermatolgist at the hospital today and she has given him some different creams and antibo and said if its not clear by next week then she will admit him into hospital.
does anyone know what this intails?
has any mnetters had treatment in hospital for ezcema?

Im currently a student Childrens Nurse, 2nd year, and a mum to a 4 year old who suffers from terrible Ezcema.

In hosp, they will be able to monitor how his skin reacts to certain creams, Apply them efficently, reduce the risk of infection and be able to treat him with IV (intra-venious) antibiotics, which provide a quick way to reduce and prevent infection that he may of obtained through him scratching!! The dtrs and Nurse will also provide education to you about certain methods that reduce the Ezcema!

I hope he doesn't end up in hosp, as this can be very frightening for little ones, and mums and dads, but if he does, I hope they are all lovely (Im sure they will be!) to all in your family!

does it mean that they think i am not treating him at home for his ezcema?

my son has had this for 5 years we have tried everything creams bathcreams steriod creams medicines bandages wet wraps pjs they work for a while and then they stop working my son is in my bed so i can scratch him all night other wise it looks like a blood bath i am doing everything they have told me to do the doctor said i shoulnt of left it as he has had this bout for 2 weeks but i was using the creams and doing everything they told me to do and i couldnt shift it so I phoned up the nurse to make an early appointment and now they have made me feel like a bad mother and i dont look aftermy chils ezcema me and my son have been through hell and back i have sat up for endless nights with him

Oh no not at all!!!! The wouldnt even begin t think that, Just if they did use any new creams, then they would most likely educate you to how to use them at home!

Hi, I've been a paediatric nurse for 7 years and i'm mum to a 21month old with eczema. It sounds more like the admission to hospital would purely be because of the infection, which as already said are common with all the scratching. If the oral antibiotics don't clear it up intra venous ones will. Nobody will think you havn't been treating your son, unfortunately there are unbelievably some parents who don't seek or take the advice/creams etc given to them but it sounds like you've been trying everything. Its also quite common to find that some things work for a bit, then stop working. Really hope the infection at least clears up soon, and keep fighting - there is help and support out there- its just not always easy to find

im hoping it is going to clear up, it feels like their is no support at all and ive been tryin to get the help i had to tell my doctor i wanted to see a dermatologist and i have also been laughed at by my doctor when explaining what creams he used to have(moved to new area year ago)and explaining how bad he is im made to feel so small and that i am making things out to be worse than what they are so i try to avoid taking my child to the family doctor and wait for appointment with the derma instead but now if feels like they are trying to say i dont look after him when they havent got a clue what ive done for him and how im shattered physical and mentally
