Could this be chicken pox?

DS (2 tomorrow) been grouchy since the weekend, waking early crying which is unlike him. Appetite not what it usually is. Yesterday morning he started with a rash - like very small red pimples on his body, arms, legs. The rash hasn't changed, neither worse nor better since then. Looks like a heat rash to me.

I've never seen the early stages of chicken pox, could this be it? I just remember the big blistery spots. It is going round his nursery at the moment.

Symptoms sound possible, but the spots are unmistakeble. Mine had one big one like a blister, followed by many more. The spots come in "crops", my girls had about10-20 new ones every few hours for several days. I've killed three threads, so fingers crossed for this one!

That's what's making me wonder, because I would have expected the blisters to arrive by now. Sounds like you agree with me.

My dd has chicken pox at the moment, and her spots came up as red blotches, many of which then became fluid filled. Three days on they're now scabbing over. Best to take your ds to the doctor, cos even if it isn't chicken pox wouldn't it be better to know what you're dealing w if he's not his normal self?

no doesn't sound like chicken pox. they're much bigger and have a blister on.

giddykipper · 12/05/2009 21:32

Yeah, think I might make an appointment in the morning.
