Congestion in baby

Ds - 6 and a half weeks old has had congestion in his nose since he was about 2 weeks old. We have been using saline drops for this but it seems to be getting worse over last 2 days. GP and health visitor have said it's quite normal for newborns to be congested.

Has anyone had any experience of this? If so, how long does it normally last? Poor guy is really struggling, especially at night..

Yes - mine was like this for ages after being born - then he got a cold........it was tough!!! Can't remember when congestion went - but it does. Try propping the cot/basket up at the head end and put some karvol on a tissue out of his reach.
I know it's no help whatsoever to you to hear the old cliche, but "it will get better".

I just wish I knew when it would get better . I didn't think you could use karvol on a baby so young?

I think it's ok if it's just in the room somewhere and not right next to them - but I could be wrong.

Sorry my mistake - it's 3 months. I do sympathise - when my ds was that age I wanted to run away! But he is now 10 months and it all seems like distant memory. Think he was better by about 11 weeks.

That's a long time. I know you forget about it once they're bigger cos this is my second baby, but it's so hard when you're going through it and seems to be never-ending.
