I have 15mth twin boys 1 of whom has just undergone an endoscopy and ph study which shows he has moderate to severe gastro reflux we have had a yr of constantly waking in pain..the dr has prescribed omeprazole which my son has had previously (along wiv infant gaviscon - ranitidine and domperidone) but the omeprazole tastes awful and its a real battle to get him to take it resulting in all of us getting upset (sad) does anyone know if there is a flavoured omeprazole for children or any tips on how to get him to take this medicine wud really help thanks everyone xx

Welcome to MN

No experience of omeprazole, but could you give it to your ds in something he likes? dd2 was on domperidone and ranitidine for about 18 months, and would only take them in a bottle of milk....absolutely wouldn't in a syringe or spoon etc.

Juice, yoghurt, chocolate spread, anything he'll take a spoonful of??!? Sorry not much help, maybe someone will come along who knows of a tasty omeprazole...lots of MNers who have experience of giving it to little ones, but its often quiet here at weekends so give it a while and keep 'bumping' your post to the top if needs be!

Try asking your gastroent to switch to
Lanzoprazole, commercial name Lansox, it belongs to thesame family as Losec, omeprazole. pills melt in 2cc of water and taste like red fruit (didn't taste them, but smell is quite good) and my DS2 always opened the mouth for more.
Otherwise try: chocolate pudding powder or a little pear puree
