3yo Chesty cough, temp & sore ears?!

DD (3yo) has a chesty cough, temp last night too. And kept complaining her ears were sore?

I'm giving her Tixylix for her cough & calpol for temp which worked fine, but the ears being sore is strange, they don't look red or any different on the outside.

Could she have an infection in her ears?!

She's only ever had 1 ear infection at 15mths when she was cutting teeth...

Tia..

Do you have a walk in centre that is open? It only takes a minute to look in a child's ears, but leaving an ear infection untreated can be serious. Is she in more pain when lying down?

Is she in a lot of pain?

I would either ring NHS direct, or your local surgery who should have a message with the number of your out of hours doctors.

My GP doesn't treat ear infections unless thet persist more than 3 days with no improvement - many are viral so no treatment.

I would be ^potentially more worried about chest symptoms (depending on severity).

Doesn't hurt to get either checked if you are worried though.

Thanks for the replies.

She only moaned about the sore ear last night, had nothing about it all day today. Just "I'm really poorly" from her.
She's not eating much, drinking normal amount, and her chest sounds phlegmy as does Ds's.

Is it worth calling Nhs direct?!

There's no walk in centre around here afaik.

She's been really really tired for a few days now & went to bed at 5.45pm but shes awake coughing now...
