CALPOL...HOW MUCH IS TOO MUCH?

9 month old DS been teething for weeks, bottom 2 through without too much bother but top 2 are causing him soooooo much pain. I've been giving him a dose of calpol almost every night for a few weeks now, not the full dose, which is up to 5ml 3x daily, but just 2.5-4ml at night. Am I misusing this? HV thinks it's ok but other people say it's too much. Using teething powders too but he really needs the pain relief.

As long as you don't exceed the dose stated on the bottle for the age I would have thought you were OK. After all you will stop using it when his teeth are through...hope its soon.

I have no idea about 9mo, but DS took the full recommended dose of paracetamol (Calpol) for over 6 months, and all the medical staff said it was fine.

Keep checking with your HV.
