Was this chickenpox?

Last Friday, 15 MO DS vomited and had a temp of 102. This continued off and on until Saturday afternoon where a few spots (like bad teenage spots) were on his ear. Sunday- Red spots all over and ear spots worse. Out-of-hours Doc said looks like chickenpox. However, Monday spots disappeared. Ever since he's been v whingey / sensitive in the day and up at night, sometimes with a temperature. Mon-Weds he was v sleepy too. Spots appear and then disappear a few hours later. I'm flummoxed whether this was a mild case of chickenpox or something else? Just don't know whether he's still contagious and whether he's 'done' the chickenpox. Any ideas?

Doesn't sound like chickenpox to me - only in that the spots keep disappearing. When mine had chickenpox the spot would appear like a bad teenage spot, then it would always crust over before disappearing. I'd go back to the doc and mention that the spots are coming and going...

yes that's what I thought. It's all a bit odd. If he's still not right tomorrow I'll take him to the doctors again. I was hoping that would be it and he'd get immunity from it next time.
