Sun cream for eczema sufferer

Hiya,
Our youngest has severe eczema all over his body and and I've been reluctant to put anything not prescribed on him, but as the weather gets nicer I realise we will need some sun cream for him.

Does anyone have experience of any good ones which are gentle for eczema sufferers.

Hope someone can help.

The only one that worked when Ds1 was younger was the E45 stuff. Now his skin is better(ish)this stuff is good. he's 11 now though and the exzema is a lot better

Dd reacted to most chemical ones - we went through nearly all the ones' sold in Boots.This mineral dr hauschka suncream isn't cheap but is high quality and I still buy it as she has never had a problem with it.

DD can only use the E45 sun cream. Anything else aggravates her eczema which is then worsened by the heat.
We tend to resort to cotton clothing - capri pants and long or 3/4 sleeve tops in summery shapes, and it works better than t-shirt or vest tops and shorts plus heaps of sun cream.

I found one in Cape Town called RAD and now I get it sent to me every 6 months as it has a short shelf life. It is made by a dermatologist there and is the only thing we have ever been able to use on dd1 skin. I think it is the preservatives in the creams that affect her, she can't even tolerate sorbalene

I always found that the best solution was to use a sun cream that only needed applying once a day, like P20.

i find the white boots stuff is fine

sun cream is awful ingeneral for eczema

sunsense ultra. Can buy from boots but ask at the pharmacy. It retails around £10

My dd is also suffering this week with the sun. I've tried everything including the E45 suncream but her eczema still flares up. Anyone know whats in the creams to aggrevate eczema so I know what to avoid??

E45 makes it worse for my DD. I think it's trial and error unfortunately until you find one that works. Maybe search for natural products - 'Beauty Naturals' on the internet does some good stuff.

Definitely try Banana Boat baby block sunscreen spf 50, pink or yellow tubes, this is the only one my daughter has ever ever tolerated well...we've tried the lot.

My mum has been prescribed the sunsense by the doctor.

She also uses ROC which I find good (find one with no perfume in it).

Green people sunblocker is mineral and works well.

were taking our little ones to spain in a couple of months. my son suffers from eczema and also worry about what suncream to use. is that sunsense ultra one any good? does in aggrevate eczema?

Jonesfamily, see your GP - we were prescribed a sunblock to use which meant it was free. Unfortunately can't remember what it was called, but your GP will prescribe whatever seems best for your child's skin.

Badger suncream is the only natural suncream we've found. Active ingredient is zinc oxide and the other ingredients are all natural - olive oil and essential oils iirc. We've been using spf 30 for years with no problems.
