I'm asking because dd4 has been unwell for the past week and I noticed when I was cuddling her yesterday her hair smelt a bit "fishy". She had a bath last night and still smells, possibly a bit stronger. I did take her to the GP yesterday who has prescribed AB's. (Couldn't find anything specifically wrong).

Should have also added that dd has a cardiac condition and has a cough (chest is clear though) and has been more sleepy and grumpy - not convinced the grumpiness isn't just a 3yo 'thing' though.

really??? my dd has kidney reflux, and is always getting UTIs. Is it that what makes her smell a bit 'iffy' at times?? I just nag at her to go and wash her hair!!

Also, now it has me thinking - she has terrible bad breath at times, even when i brush her teeth to make sure they are done properly. Someone once told me that that could be due to her damaged kidney - again, could it all be related? Oh, i feel like such a bad mum now for constantly nagging her for not cleaning herself properly!!! (she is 12!)

Hi snorris - HV has also told me that when they have UTI's they can smell also their urine also smells which it shouldn't do if they are ok.

Thanks, I thought maybe I'd imagined it. Can't say I've noticed her wee smelling but I'm sure that this other mum noticed the smell before any other symptoms. One of her kidneys is slightly smaller and she was on Trimethoprim for a long time. Hopefully this course of AB's will help, she has got a paed appointment on Tues at the hospital so as long as she keeps on improving I'll wait til then.
