Ds2 going in hospital tomorrow for bowel biospy to which he will be having a G.A. At the moment he just thinks it is a normal appointment, not really sure what to tell him. Any advice please. He is 5 btw, but not a mature 5 (ds1 I could have serious convo with when he was 5 but cant with ds2)

we just told dd2 that she would have magic medicine to make her have a short nap whilst they x/y/z (in our case, take pictures of her brain lol)

we told her she had to have a sleep so that she wouldn't wriggle.

I agree with MW
I think they give them a gas now that smells like bubblegum?

It must be very frightening for you as well, i remember when DD and DS were put under anaethetic there's no feeling like it in the world for a parent, they look so little and vulnerable.... take someone to support you if you can and try not to worry.... Hope DS is ok

My son had a GA in Jan, I would definately go for the explaination that they will have some medicene that will make them go to sleep so the DRs can do their thing.

DS had meds vis a cannula BTW not gas and he is 3

Dh is coming with me, and I will be wearing waterproof mascara. I know I will be fine for him but once he asleep and I have to leave the room I know I probably wont be.

Sorry wasn't trying to worry you flower just prepare you.. I know i wasn't prepared for how i felt when they went under, i thought i would feel the way i do when i watch them sleeping..... how mistaken was i lol. They look so tiny, of course you will be ok when he is awake, he MAY move about but they will tell you this is normal and it is, sometimes they try to fight it and sit up, this is also normal.

You will be ok. I hope everything comes back ok and all clear
