candyfluff - does she hav any other symptoms?? temperature, sensitivity to light, flu like, rash??? Sorry to be melodramatic, but a sore neck is a sign of meningitis and if she has any of these other symptoms I'd get her checked out asap.

But it could be she's creaked her neck also and there's not too much more to do but continue with what you are doing now and encourage her to try to move it as much as possible. Has she fallen recently or been involved in an accident or anything? If it hasn't settled in a few days I'd maybe then take her to a&e to get it checked out.

You could try rubbing brufen gel or deep heat or bio freeze gel on - providing they are age appropriate for her. I personally use bio freeze gel on my neck - it makes it very warm so only use a small amount if you are going to try it. Make sure she is only sleeping on one pillow, and if necessary use a rolled up towel under her neck to support the space between neck and pillow. Encourage her to move her neck gently - maybe even give her neck a wee rub if she can tolerate it. keeping her neck stiff will just make the problem worse. I'd also advise you not to let her use the computer/handheld computer gamers as from personal experience this can make things worse!

Oh and plenty of ice cream and easter eggs are an absolute MUST!!!!
