Ongoing cough, refusing medicine, what to do next?

My usually very healthy 7 month old ds has had a bad cough and runny nose for about 6 weeks now (on and off) as has dh (but I'm letting him sort himself out).

He has had 2 lots of antibiotics (5 days each) but the doc has been reluctant to prescribe as he thinks the cough is purely viral. The cough improved with both lots of antibiotics but then got worse again when the course finished.

DS has got wise to it all now and won't take the antiobiotics or calpol (but I think I will try using a syringe rather than a spoon next time).

Anyway, I am going to take him to the docs again tomorrow as he just seems to be getting worse.

so, just looking for ideas really or anyone else in the same situation.

my ds has antibiotics every winter due an immunology problem and we used the syringe when he wouldnt take it at first. He is now used to taking medication so its not a problem.

Thanks DLI, I think you're right about using a syringe (and getting used to it too). He seems a little bit better now so I'm holding off going to the docs for now
