If you had it when you were a child chances are you'll be fine, but I'd speak to your doc/MW about it to get proper medical advice etc about how to handle being around chicken pox when pg. Has ds had a temperature? I don't think everyone has a temp, but ds had a sudden rush up to 40 degrees which went after about 4 hours with bathing and nurofen, then spots came the next day. Apparently that's quite common. What do the spots look like? ds's first ones looked a bit like bites then went up to blisters the day after. All of a sudden, 2 hours later he was dotty all over.

no temp and not unwell at all, look like little bites yes.

Not many of them about 4/5

they look like bites or little spots from memory

hmmm...does sound a bit poxy but it's good that he's not generally unwell, perhaps he'll only have a mild dose if that's what it is. When did you last look, are there still only 4 or 5? ds had 2 or 3 for about 24 hours then suddenly polka dot within the space of a couple of hours.

Just looked again now.
He has been playng out all weekend in the garden so could be bites BUT he has been in contact with a fair few kids with the pox!

I am so surprised that he hasnt got them up till now. He has been in very close contact over the years with close friends and family kids at various stages of the pox!!

ah well,

the thing with the pox is that at first you wonder if it could be
by tomorrow when he is covered in the spots you will be in no doubt

littlelamb · 13/04/2009 17:24

If you have had bloods taken already in pregnancy ring your mw tomorrow and get them to check for immunity- my mum was convinced I'd never had them and when dd got them when I was pg I worried myself silly but the immunity was there in my blood. They will look just like ordinary spots. Dd's appeared literally before my eyes when we were in the bath. Ime, the worst part of the chicken pox may well be over so fingers crossed for you. As soon as dd's spots appeared she felt much better, and they didn't seem to bother her
