How long can my 1-year-old be without food?

Hi, my 1-year-old has not taken any solid food for 4 days now, only drinks some milk but not enough. Been to the A&E where they told us she must have had a stomach bug and that we should give her fluids and 'encourage' her to eat. But how long can she be without food - today is the forth day she has not eaten. Whe is playing and chatting away but not eating...I'm really worried now. Any advice? Thank you!

no need to worry, she'll eat when she feels better. just remember she's just like us...if she feels sick she just won't want to eat. if you worry and fuss around her she'll get used to it and might become a bit neurotic about food afterwards. leave her be and she'll catch up naturally

my 18mth old goes literally days without eating (i am at home with her and have in the past, written everything she eats down in a food diary so i know what her intake is- she eats when she wants to-regardless of what we offer her so although we have days where she eats 3 raisins and one bite of toast and nothing else we just leave her to it-it's really hard to not get wound up by it but she can go weeks on practical starvation rations before eating again-try not to sweat it and i hope she gets better soon.
