My 2 year old has had very pale poo the last few days. Is this a sign of anything? I have just googled pale stools and really wished I hadn't as it came up with all sorts of nasty diseases. His diet is not great despite my best efforts so worried he maybe lacking in something??

with my dc when they have thissits normally just a sign of an upset tummy. not nice but bearable. hope he perks up soon. is he poorly in any other way?

Thanks. He has complained of a bit of tummy ache but nothing to make me concerned. Not poorly, no sickness or diaorreah. Will have to just keep an eye on it i guess and if it continues get him checked out. Should I take a sample with me if I go to dr do you think? I am guessing that would be one of the first things they would want??

ds has pale poo if he drinks a lot of milk. has your ds had a lot of milk floppy?

floppyearsandcurlywiskers · 06/04/2009 13:48

He does love his milk but not had any more than usual.

if it is pale and fluffy/floaty/hard to flush away it can be a sign of dairy or other food intolerance (dd had this and is coeliac)it can be because the stools contain an excess of undigested fat. it might be a one off, if it persists get it checked out. If he becomes jaundiced (yellowing to skin or if he is dark skinned, the whites of the eyes) with it , get immediate medical advice as that can be a sign of liver problems (FIL just had this combination of symptoms and been very poorly)
