Don't mean to be rude but how often is he having a bath? Does it look like he has an infection there? Is it red?

I don't touch ds's foreskin. I don't know if I should though but he has never had a problem.

skramble · 04/04/2009 23:52

I don't see a problem pulling it backif it moves freely, sounds like it needs a good wash.

Don't know what age they reach before it is a concern if forskin is still too tight though

he has a bath most nights, doesnt look like he has an infection, doesnt look red. just smells strongly.

DS discovered he could pull back his foreskin, and calls the result his "second willy". I just couldn't do the pulling back, so every so often I ask him to find his second willy when he's in the bath. Cue a lot of typical male displaying but at least it's clean. Agree with skramble, probly needs a good wash.

it says half way down here - which is really informative reading if you start at the beginning.

'The only person to retract a child's foreskin should be the child himself, and only when he has discovered that his foreskin is ready to retract'

I would get him to pull it back gently in the bath and take it from there.

If it's smelly BEFORE he has a bath, it's probably just been splashed with pee and he needs the bath! Girls get smelly too - particularly if they aren't very efficient wipers. That's what baths are for. I would only be concerned if the smell persisted after his bath, or came back very quickly

You shouldn't touch his foreskin - it may not be retractable yet. If he can pull it back that's fine - but nobody else should try.
