DS2 was in hospital yesterday with a temp of 40.3 and has not slept well (waking every hour or so) since Sunday... Hubby works nights and I'm just sooo tired...

I know this sounds bad but for the first time since he's been born I feel like I could run away!!! ARGH!! (hate feeling like this)

Is it just me or does anyone else here gets anxious when they are tired? I feel like i'm losing my marbles.

Luckily DS1 is staying with my lovely sis tonight so he can get some sleep... Bless him
I just wanted a chat and any ideas that would help me get him to sleep!!!
(sorry just needed a rant too)

Thanks
xxxx

Sorry not really got any advice, I assume you have him on medication to deal with the fever. Nothing much you can do really!

You have my thoughts though, it's not fun when you're shattered.

What is wrong with ds2? Did they give him anything? Poor thing, must be awful for him.

Cazzaben · 03/04/2009 01:19

Thanks...

Yeah I got him on Calpol he's not allowed milk either which I think is making him more miserable... He's got a D&V bug...

Why isn't he allowed milk? If he usually has it and he has d&v he needs to stay hydrated, I've never stopped any of my 3 having milk when they're ill if they are used to it and it makes them feel better.

ScottishThistle · 03/04/2009 01:21

Poor wee fella, lots of cuddles and water.I hope you manage to get a few hours sleep. x

ScottishThistle · 03/04/2009 01:22

No milk with D&V, dairy is very bad for tummy bugs.

JodieO · 03/04/2009 01:25

Well I was bf (mine don't drink much milk now) so I guess that's different, unless op is still bf? I wouldn't stop bf, best thing for it really.

Cazzaben · 03/04/2009 01:33

Unfortunately I'm not breastfeeding. They did say if I was then that would've been the best thing. I'm giving him Diaoralyte < bad spelling) and thats it... Poor little thing though I wish I could take it all away from him. I was told by the Pead we saw yesterday that milk is thr worst thing for D&V... Yet my sis-in-law's little girl (2yrs) has the same bug and she was told to give her milk and thats it!!!

I guess we will just do what we feel is right. (he did keep bringing milk up)

(wish I had carried on breastfeeding and not given up so soon)

Thanks for your replies though x

Breastmilk is fine, formula isn't.

Cazzaben is he drinking a lot? If not you can give regular spoonfuls of water with salt and sugar.

Cazzaben · 03/04/2009 01:35

No he's not I have to force feed him the diaoralyte with a syringe< too late for spelling...

Good, he doesn't have to take a lot at the same time, a little but very often. You probably already know that! I hope the poor wee thing is feeling a bit better tomorrow. x

Cazzaben · 03/04/2009 01:42

Ah!!

Thanks for replying... Will update in the morning...

He's nodded off now so I'm gonna grab 40 winks while I can!!
