DD2 age 2 has perforated her ear drum. How long does the oozing pus last?

DD2 was diagnosed with a perforated ear drum on Tuesday, she has been given a prescription for drops and the Doctor said to come back in two weeks if it isn't any better.
She is still getting green oozing pus out of her ear, should I wait another week to take her back to the Doctors?
She doesn't seem to be in that much pain though, but finds it really difficult sleeping.
Advise required please.

Hiya,
Little boy I know had this (four times in his first year, has now had grommits fitted)
His ear would burst then trickle the stuff but not normally longer than a day.
Hope she is better soon

my ds get antibiotics and it clears up in 24 hours, have never heard of giving drops

am highly surprised at drops; I had a perforated ear drum and the dr said on no account does anything go in the ear in that case. Also i can only imagine the pain

is your dd on anti biotics?

less than 24 hours in our experience

Just drops. We were advised to keep her ear dry- vaseline and cotton wool in if having bath - but to be honest we haven't risked a bath yet (I know bad mummy- no bath for nearly a week)- didn't want to risk getting it wet
Just been using a cotton bud to clear the gunky from her outside ear- it doesn't cause her pain though- she thinks we are clearing the carrots from her ears and has to sit still.

am just confused. I thought a perforated ear drum came about through an ear infection - only going on my experience though, which was of the most agonising pain - your dd doesn't sound that bad. Maybe that's why no anti-biotics. But IME when I've had an ear infection (only about 3) the dr has given anti-b's straight away, and they've told me that they often give them because ear infections can be serious if left untreated.

If she seems well in herself though and CAN tolerate the drops then of course her dr knows best! But if she's still unwell and can't sleep, I'd certainly take her back asap.

my dd1's ear oozed for ages. Weeks. She wasn't in any pain by that point though.

I guess I had a bad inner ear infection! I remember one side of my face swelled so much that one eye was almost closed.

I have a perforated ear drum at the moment, diagnosed a little more than two weeks ago.
No oozing now but ear feels wet if you see what i mean. If your dd isnt in any discomfort i would wait to see how she is when the abs are finished.
