any tips on how to get eye ointment into a baby's eye?

we have antibiotic eye ointment, but it seems to end up on her nose / eyebrow / cheek rather than in her eye.

She is 3 wks old. If we wait til she is asleep, she immediately wakes up enough to wriggle around. She also has v long eyelashes, which I think makes it more difficult.

Any tips? Thanks.

I used to find just smearing it onto the eyelashes worked just as well.

I do ds's eyedrops while I'm feeding him. If you feed lying down and drip the drop just next to the eye it rolls in. He doesn't like it much, but it goes in. You can only do one side at a time though.
