Dermatitis on scalp

DD is 2.5 and has excema on and off and suffered from cradle cap when an infant. Recently got a very itchy head which she has scratched and it has created big scabs which she then scratches off and there is 'weeping' from the skin underneath. Looks terrible and is driving her mad.

Doc gave us some scalp shampoo which doesn't seem to be doing much but will perservere as only using it a week. Wondered if anyone else had experienced this and if they knew of any remedies, natural or chemical which worked?

Thanks.

It could be scalp psoriasis, which I have. Docs are a bit rubbish at knowing anything about it. Have you tried coal tar shampoo like T-gel or Alphosyl?

Thanks. Have done a bit of googling and I think it is scalp psoriasis. He has given me a coal tar soap but was limited in what could give due to her age. i will persist with the shampoo as haven't been using it that long. I think it is Alphosyl. What have you found to be effective?

Both work for me really if I get a bad attack of it. But I do get a bit "immune" to them if I use them all the time. I try and alternate with a different kind of shampoo. Can't beat Vosene imho.

Thanks for your replies. I will keep going with the shampoo and keep my fingers crossed.

I am scared her hair will fall out though!

Anyone else any experience of this?? Seems to be getting worse. She has big lumpy patches on her scalp which she keeps scratching and they bleed and weep. It's horrible. Obviously I am going back to the docs but can anyone help?
