I am hoping someone can reassure.

ds is quite a skinny baby but the whole of his shaft and a bit of the head of his penis is hidden behind his fat pad. if i push the fat pad down it pops out and looks normal sized (about an inch and a half-ish) but at the moment its more like a jelly tot.

done some googling but most info is american and about circumsized babies which isn't relevant to ds. found some sites that say that the willy pops out as they slim down, but as i said ds is already very slender and snake hipped.

should i go and see the G.P or wait and see if it sorts itself out? i don't want ds growing up with a complex about his manhood

my nearly 16 month ds has the same problem. the description of his penis looking like a helly tot is exactly right.
i took him to the gp last summer & she said it was the smallest she had ever seen
. we were referred to the hospital, he was seen in August & we were told to come back when he had lost weight! He was due to be seen at the beginning of feb but was cancelled due to the snow. I am finally going to get to see someone on Tuesday this week but am worried as it hasn't grown and is still buried. have been looking on the internet & am scared it might be a condition called micro penis which is really not pleasant. it really scares me as he is a lovely boy & am so worried about what it could mean for him when he is older.

jelly tot, not helly tot!

cherrylips · 29/03/2009 18:30

I hope everything is alright on Tuesday rizlated.

Is it still buried because he hasn't lost any weight yet?

bamboobutton · 29/03/2009 20:12

rizlated- if you push down the fat at the base of your sons penis does it pop out and look normal? if it does then i don't think its micro penis, from what ive read micro is when it measures less than 3/4 an inch (1.9cm)from the base when the fat is pushed down. hope it goes well on tuesday

im taking my ds to the doctors about his willy, just to put my mind at ease because im sure it will sort itself out but i want to make sure for definite.

Thanks cherrylips & bamboobutton. He isn;t walking yet so hasn't lost any weight, he may even have put some on! (my older DS, 3.5 says 'he's got man boobs mummy'!).
When it was measured last summer it was 1.5cm when the fat pad was pressed but that was apprently just about ok as he was about 8 months at the time.
It does pop out, haven't measured it but it still looks v small, my older DS's is much bigger & always was so as soon as DS2 was born it was one of the first things i noticed. Keeping my fingers crossed for Tuesday & i think its definitely worth going to the GP if you have any concerns.

cherrylips · 30/03/2009 10:05

My friend has got two boys, and I have compared the size of their willies to my ds This comparing behaviour is probably very natural.

As you know your ds will definitely lose lots of wight when he starts running around, playing in the park etc. Hope its good news on Tuesday.

hi, just thought i would update. with much difficulty the consultant managed to measure DS2's penis, its now 3.2 cm apparently but it was a bit hit & miss due to DS2's consatnt wriggling! He offered the option of coming back in 6 months time or arranging for DS2 to have some blood/hormone tests .
i have opted for the hormone tests as would rather know if there is anything serioulsy wrong & would rather have it treated now when he will forget or all about it, than wait 10 years when it would be much more traumatic for him.
the consultant said he wasn't too concerned but was happy to do the tests to rule out anything hormonal. now just got to wait for the next appointment...

cherrylips · 03/04/2009 12:55

Oh well done with coping with your ds constant wriggling!

The consultation sounds quite positive. Now its a case of ruling out hormonal problems. I'd be reassured that the consultant isn't too concerned. But yes, I'd also opt for the hormonal blood tests just to make sure, and get early treatment if necessary.

Try not to worry too much, that sounds like a good size to me (layman emoticon). Take one step at a time, relax and enjoy ds 's for now and then take the next step in 6 months time.

Good luck xx

Hi, I know this thread is really old but I just wondered if anyone could tell me what happened with their little one. My 15month old has what I think is a buried penis. You can barely see any of his penis at all. I can’t sleep I’m so anxious about it. I have asked the Dr before but they just dismiss it but I’m so worried about my son getting teased etc and obviously worried if there is a more serious issue. Please help. X
