Any 'eye' people out there?

DD (4.5) has been full of cold for the last three days, and also complaining of a hurting eye. I have put it down to general cold symptoms, but it has been red and watery. I haven't been able to see anything in her eye at all. This afternoon, having returned from school, there is a minute brown/black speck which looks as though it is in the transparent bit of the eye, over the top of the iris. It doesn't move about like a bit of grit does. Has any one any ideas? Could it be a 'scab' where something has damaged the surface of the eye? Should I get it looked at, and if so, GP, optician or A&E

I would definitely take him to the GP asap. Could be a piece of grit that's stuck in the corneal tissue.
