Almost 8 year old- think the problem is adenoids. Any advice/experience?

DS2 is always bunged up. He can't breath through his nose and snores at night. You can ALWAYS hear him breathing.

It's becoming a bit of a social issue as he's getting teased at school because when he's concentrating, his mouth is agape as he can't breath if he closes it! He also wakes with really bad breath.

I'd been putting it down to our damp house- we're moving sometime this year! But someone at work has suggested identical symptom in her DD means she'll be having her adenoids removed- having gone through the 2 months of steroidal nasal spray route etc, of course.

Well, it does sound like adenoids - but my only experience, directly, is with dd2 who had severe sleep apnoea (and snoring) and had tonsils and adenoids removed at 2.1 yrs in January.

She breathed with her mouth open, too - not any more.

Definitely worth getting checked out, because I was told that mouth breathing can affect the shape of the jaw (ie teeth) as well as tiredness from snoring/apnoea.
