How long would it take to develop conjunctivitis?

My DS had conjunctivitis 3 weeks ago which cleared up within 2 days with antibiotic eye drops from the doctor, so I would imagine it was a bacterial infection (but can't be sure)

Would it be possible that he has passed this on to my MIL and she has developed sore eyes today?

I've just had an phone call from her to tell me that she has caught conjunctivitis from my DS and that she is not happy with me for letting him pass it on to people.

I'm a bit miffed with her as I kept him off nursery when he had the sticky eyes and she only saw him very briefly when he had it, plus it was 3 flippin weeks ago! Surely she can't have picked it up from him?

Anybody have any idea how long it could have taken her to develop it?

Dd2 has this at the moment so have been chatting with her CM about it. CM says it's only contagious when the green gunk is there as she's quite happy to have mindees when gunk is gone and treatement is ongoing. CM isn't a doctor(!) but fairly hot on when she is prepared to have the children or not. Wouldn't have thought incubation is 3 weeks! HTH

nhs24 says it spreads rapidly so with a 3 week gap it is unlikely she got it from your ds.

Well I didn't have it yesterday morning but I did last night and I do today

Anyone any idea if it is safe to work with food with conjuctivitis? I'm guessing no?

My 2 year old dd has just got over conjunctivitis which started over a week ago and my 8 month old ds has now got it in both eyes today. They both have awful colds so not sure if he got it from her or they have just both infected themselves with all the snot they seem to like rubbing round their faces..
