Getting eye drops into a 4 year old, any tips?

Not only has ds got shingles, he got conjunctivitis as well, trying to get the eyedrops in is a nightmare. Anyone any tips?

My sister used to do it whilst my niece was asleep. Obviously she's a heavy sleeper though!!

Tried all that, bribery, looking up etc
He rolls up in a ball and starts screaming, may try the sleeping method.

I used to find the cream much more effective, it seemed to work efficiently just smeared all over the eyelashes.
