dd2 is 2 weeks and 2 days and is still jaundiced - she's fully bf

mw coming on friday to review her but says she may need blood test in hospital if still jaundiced (tho it has decreased a lot since a week ago)

is it a heel prick test or big vial of blood does anyone know?

Both DD and DS were jaundiced for at least 3.5 weeks and I had the heel pinprick test with both. Is just a jab in heel and they collect a teeny bit. They scream like hell. MW told me that if they are still jaundcied at 2 weeks then the bilirubin test will be above 100 and that then you do have to see a specialist. Day 13 is when they HAVE to do the test. Is routine. For us, was just an appt at hospital for paed. to cast a quick eye over them and check was just standard non serious jaundice. There is another more serious (rare) condition and that's why they check. Try not to worry, is v common and will clear with feeding and sunlight in time.

starlight - thanks, she feeds loads and was 10oz above birthweight at 14 days...dpn't think she could really feed more than she does

gave been in sun today for quite a while, will try again tomorrow

sydney - dd is over day 13 and hasm't had test, mw thinks it will have cleared by fri (it has decreased definitely)

feel worried now...
