I think she needs to be seen urgently to be honest-can you get her to A and E?

Marthasmama · 16/03/2009 12:33

Agreed, get her to A&E NOW!

Tiggiwinkle · 16/03/2009 12:33

In that case either take her to A and E or call an ambulance it you don't have transport.

Elibean · 16/03/2009 12:42

Also agree. Best be safe, I'd call an ambulance if can't get to A&E fast.

Elibean · 16/03/2009 19:05

HOw is she now, tjackson? Still thinking of you!

Tiggiwinkle · 16/03/2009 19:23

Just checking for news too. Hope everything is OK.

Marthasmama · 17/03/2009 08:42

Hope your dd is ok tjackson. Thinking of you.

tjacksonpfc · 17/03/2009 08:58

hi all sorry for the lack of response but we went straight to a and e with dd and didnt get out till 2am this morning.

They said she has got strepticocal tonsilitus so they have given her a high does of penicillin for that and we are still awaiting results back from the blodd test on the meningitus.

Thanks for all your messages i will keep you informed

Marthasmama · 17/03/2009 10:03

Aw poor dd. Sounds nasty, I had quinsy a few (well actually 15) years ago and it was awful. Hope she gets well soon and that the meningitis test is negative.

Tiggiwinkle · 17/03/2009 10:07

Thanks for letting us know tjacksonfc. Hope the blood test results are clear.

Presumably it is scarlet fever then, which is basically a strep throat followed by rash?

tjacksonpfc · 17/03/2009 11:47

hi tiggi thanks for that i didnt know thats what scarlet fever was.

just a quick update i just called the ward and the nurse said she doesnt think the results are back yet but will get the dr to call me when he has finished his rounds. glad we didnt stay last night now waiting for these results as they told us they would only take 2 hours

Hospitals operate on their own time system I think!

How is your DD today-they usually start to feel better quite quickly once the ABs are started?

tjacksonpfc · 17/03/2009 12:40

yeah tiggi they certainly dont work on same clock as everyone else

well the hospital have just phoned and there is an infection showing up on the blood test results so back to the hospital we go again for them to have another look at her.

OP posts:
Tiggiwinkle · 17/03/2009 12:45

Oh no! Good luck-hope everything is ok.

Elibean · 17/03/2009 15:22

tjackson, sorry to hear she's got to be seen again - hope its quick this time, and most of all that she's feeling a lot better now on ABs. It sounds a lot like what my friend's ds has atm, and that is scarlet fever...a lot around, apparently. Fingers crossed there's nothing more to it!

Tiggiwinkle · 18/03/2009 09:21

How did you get on? Hope the results were not too worrying and you are back home.

tjacksonpfc · 18/03/2009 11:03

hi thanks for all the messages we have just got back that put dd on a iv antibiotics drip last night to blast the infection which has worked really well she is 100 percent better than she was.

they will call me tommorow when the results of throat swab are back but hopefully we have turned the corner now. she has to carry on with the peniccilin for the rest of the week but will hopefully be back to normal in next few days.

OP posts:
Elibean · 18/03/2009 11:10

Phew

Glad to hear she's so much better, and here's wishing you a peaceful no-more-illness spring from now on, whatever the throat swabs showed.

Tiggiwinkle · 18/03/2009 11:32

Glad she is improving-you are having quite a week of it!

Thanks for letting us know-hope you get some well-earned rest now because you must be exhausted.

Tiggiwinkle · 19/03/2009 10:38

How are things today tjackson?
